Transitional justice, which deals with history, psychology and violence, is a very specific process aimed at building resilience where there has been a failure in the constitutional promise for social peace. According to Madame Kelly Picard, we are in an ambiguous situation. On the one hand the state has failed to protect rights and freedoms. However, the new democratic state (proceeding the repressive and authoritarian state) cannot guarantee procedural law from the outset, so laws of justice and redress.
The Normandy Region is following the process of transitional justice in Columbia, with a particular focus on the environment damages.
The Normandy Chair for Peace aims to support research in this new field of transitional environmental justice, and open up new possibilities.
