Environmental law training of law professors

Upon the initiative of Nick Robinson, Parvez Hassan, the IUCN Commission on Environmental Law, the UNEP and the ADB, the first training of law professors to teach Environmental Law was held in Singapore in 1997 and 1998. With Nick Robinson, I organized a Training the Trainers (Law Professors) course in 2004 in the Philippines. This initiative was carried on by the Academy of Environmental Law and the ADB.

Environmental Law Training of Law Professors held in 1997 in Singapore, in the Philippines in 2004.

Early in 2021, I suggested to the then Chair of the Philippine Legal Education Board – former Justice Zenaida Elepano — that we hold another training of Law Professors to build up their capacity to teach Environmental Law. She accepted this suggestion and put me in touch with Commissioner (former Dean) Jojo Sorrera-Ty. I put Jojo Ty in touch with Rose Liza Eisma Osorio, Chair of the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law. Together, they came up with a training program for Law Professor to teach Environmental Law. I spoke at the opening and launch of the training program.
