A delegation of the Normandy Chair for Peace spent a week in Colombia to meet new actors who work for the Right of future generations and who are the key in the process of transitional justice linked to the protection of the environment.
This delegation was composed of Emilie Gaillard (General coordinator of the Chair), Victor Tafur (Coordinator of the focus Transitional justice and environment, Normandy Chair for Peace), Luis-Miguel Gutiérrez, doctor in public law, member of the focus Transitional justice and environment, Normandy Chair for Peace, Claudia Pineda Concha (Assistant coordinator, Normandy Chair for Peace)
On the program :
- Meeting with the Dean of the Faculty of Law of the National University of Colombia, Hernando Torres, Catalina Toro and researchers on conflicts and the environment
- Meetings at the National Office of the Human Rights Defender of Colombia
- Meeting at the Centro de Estudios de Derecho, Justicia y Sociedad (Center for the Study of Law, Justice and Society) which is behind the court case won on behalf of future generations to stop massive deforestation in Colombia
Meeting with Viviane González of Tierra Digna who participated in the tutela action that protects the Atrato River as a right of nature
- Presentation by Senator Juan Luis Castro C. of the tutela action on the right of future generations to protect the Atrato River
- Meeting with environmentalist judge Gloria Amparo Rodriguez, jurist and environmentalist, judge at the Special Jurisdiction of Peace (JEP – Jurisdicción Especial para la Paz)
