Haub Law Hosts International Experts and Events Inspiring Global Legal Actions for a Climate of Change
Haub Law hosted several distinguished international environmental law advocates, experts and dignitaries for a week of impactful events aiming to advance the human right to the environment for present and future generations. Guests included renowned Filipino Environmental attorney and activist Tony Oposa, Emilie Gaillard of France’s Normandy Chair for Peace, Justice Nambitha Dambuza of the Supreme Court of Appeal of South Africa, Chief Judge Brian John Preston of the Land and Environment, Court of New South Wales (Australia), and Justice Antonio Herman Benjamin of the High Court (Superior Tribunal da Justica) of Brazil. Organized by Haub Law’s Global Center for Environmental Legal Studies, together with the International Council of Environmental Law and the Normandy Chair for Peace, the week of deliberations and studies sparked a global conversation on how to make this universal human right to the environment operational and effective. The week culminated with a Continuing Judicial Education program held in conjunction with the New York State Judicial Institute on “Adjudicating the Right to the Environment: Judicial Education Comparing Decision Making from Courts World Wide.”
