COP 25: Climate justice and law in the climate emergency

Side event December 7, 2019 from 3 pm to 4.30

Official presentation of the ICJ action by Tony OPOSA

At the official COP 25 conference, Tony OPOSA, leader of the Normandy Chair for Peace, opened a conference dedicated to climate justice

In particular, he urged States and participants to join the I am Climate Justice initiative to submit an Advisory Opinion to the International Court of Justice.

The objective is to place the States of the world in front of their responsibilities starting from a single and simple question: what are the obligations of the States in terms of international law in the fight against climate change, with regard to present and future generations? Solomon Yo presented the initiative of the same type carried out in the Pacific Islands and a prestigious panel of experts discussed this ambitious project.
