12-hour Inter-Regional Dialogue: Human Rights in the Face of Climate Crisis

A youth-led initiative to bring Climate Justice to the International Court of Justice–a historic time!

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Final Draft Resolution requesting an Advisory Opinion on Climate Change from the International Court of Justice has been formally released by the Government of Vanuatu.

105 UN member states have co-sponsored the resolution. Co-sponsorship is still open! Call on your governments to vote YES to the ICJ AO resolution.

Dear Friends,   

Recently the Government of Vanuatu formally released the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Final Draft Resolution requesting an Advisory Opinion on Climate Change from the International Court of JusticeAs such, the Normandy Chair for Peace, together with its partner, are organising an event on the 10th of March in anticipation and support for the UNGA vote that is scheduled to take place in late March 2023. We aim to discuss the nexus between climate change and existing regional human rights’ system and how an instrument of international law, such as an Advisory Opinion, can be useful to address the climate emergency.

The event will be entirely virtual and will be conducted in accordance with different time zones.The themes for each session are outlined in the programme schedule and the concept note.  There will be simultaneous translations in English, French & Spanish.
