To M. Kwok and to Good Members of the association Ayala Southvale Homeowners

Dear Mr. Kwok and the Good Members of the Ayala Southvale Homeowners Association:

We write to congratulate and commend you for your efforts to make peace with the Earth. Particularly, we are impressed by the collective will that you have shown to prohibit the use of public space/roads for the parking of private motor vehicles. While it may seem quite commonsensical that public space must only for public use, this basic truth has been disregarded. The reckless use of public space has resulted in the congestion of roads and the aggravation of the traffic condition in the Philippines and around the world. Your move to clear the roads of obstructions is a shining light of hope in the mindshift to a less motorized transportation system. It will go a long way in encouraging cleaner air, clearer roads, and a healthier lifestyle.

Next, we congratulate you for the start of your edible landscaping project, as you can see on the roadsides along Lapulapu Street. This will create the conditions of food sufficiency among your residents as well as for the administrative and security staff of your good Village. That it started in a high-end village makes it more even impressive because it will spark the idea among other subdivisions and villages all over the country.

Finally, we congratulate you for the effort to implement the solid-waste management law in your beautiful Village. It will not only reduce the wastes that have to be dumped into landfills, it will also reduce the emissions of methane. Methane, as you may know, is twenty times hotter than carbon dioxide and is one of the main causes of the ongoing climate crisis.

You, the Board of Directors, Officers and Management Staff of the Ayala Southvale Village are shining exemplars of responsible environmental behavior worthy of emulation. On behalf of the grateful people around the world, of this and of future generations, thank you for being the shining example of a Guardian of the Earth.
