Léon Ribas was born in Chalon sur Saône (France) in 1989. After obtaining his Master 2 degree in Education Sciences at the Jean Monnet University of Saint-Etienne in 2012, he worked for 8 years as a school teacher in the Wayana villages of Taluwen, Elahé and Cayodé (French Guyana).

In 2021, he joined the Mulokot Foundation, an indigenous organization that works for the development and recognition of the Wayana people in Suriname.

Within this foundation, he supervises the autonomous school of the village Kawemhakan, an educational center open to children and adults of the village mixing school courses and learning of traditional knowledge.

Dijon Koemapu is a young indigenous Wayana from the village of Apetina in Suriname. Dijon is ambitious and a very active member of the Apetina community. He is the Chairperson of Kuluwayak, an Apetina organization working to improve the lives of indigenous Wayana.

Dijon also serves as a translator at important events, such as community meetings and workshops. He was also part of the translation team for a children’s book, allowing children to read in their own language.

Dijon is also a project assistant at The Mulokot A.U.N Foundation, which is recognized as an Aboriginal organization. He is involved in three different projects.
