Good Legal Stories

4 contents

The Good Legal Stories constitute a specific branch of the Good Stories. The Good Stories Movement aims to identify inspiring stories of peace with the earth from all parts of the world in order to highlight them and congratulate the people who initiated them. The Good Legal Stories are also about highlighting inspiring stories of peace with the earth, but specifically those that involve legal action. For example, the case of “Oposa v. Factoran”, a landmark Philippine Supreme Court decision establishing intergenerational responsibility for the environment, is included in the Good Legal Stories.

Thus, a Good Legal Story is the story of a court case that made a real difference, setting a precedent for achieving peace with the Earth. Good Legal Stories are therefore about inspiring legal cases that have had a real impact and are helping to make the world a better place. In order to be considered as Good Legal Stories, these cases must be led by inspiring people who are committed to doing the good and making peace with the Earth, whether it is for the environment, the climate, equality, dignity, access to justice or future generations.

The Good Legal Stories movement, like the Good Stories ones, aims to bring together stories from different horizons and different regions of the world.

Finally, a Good Legal Story, to be recognised as such, must have a positive impact on the lives of all, so that everyone can live in dignity and in peace with the Earth.
