Congratulations for Reducing Food Waste

Dear Councilor Dizon:

Greetings from the Normandy Chair for Peace.

We write to congratulate and commend you for your initiative to reduce food waste through food donation.

The ordinance you propose which requires establishments to separate their excess food will create a ”win-win-win” situation. It will benefit the city government, the private sector, and most of all, avoid the waste of precious food. As you well know, food wastes release methane from its decomposition. Methane is a heat-trapping gas that is twenty times hotter than carbon dioxide and is one of the major causes of the ongoing climate crisis

Your initiative will feed those who are hungry-poor. And those
who will donate the food will have the moral satisfaction of feeding the hungry. Of course, the city government will be less burdened by having to dispose of less food wastes. You saw an opportunity in the midst of adversity.

You are indeed a shining exemplar of a dedicated public servant worthy of emulation.

On behalf of grateful Filipinos and of your friends around the world, Merci beaucoup. Daghang Salamat.
